Momijigari

Camellia japonica 'Momijigari' is a Japanese Higo camellia cultivar valued for its elegant, open flowers and prominent boss of golden stamens. As a Higo form, it typically bears a refined single bloom with broad petals that show well against glossy evergreen foliage. The cultivar name appears in specialist camellia collections and is associated with the traditional Japanese camellia breeding heritage. Its flowers are generally red to deep red, with a striking yellow stamen cluster creating strong contrast. Like many Camellia japonica cultivars, it is an evergreen shrub with a neat upright to bushy habit and blooms in the mid-season to later part of the japonica flowering period.
