About this Camellia cultivar
Camellia 'Glenn's Orbit' is a small-growing pink camellia raised at Trewithen, Cornwall, from a self-pollinated seedling of Camellia x williamsii 'Donation'. The cross was made in 1950 by G. H. Johnstone, and the cultivar first flowered about 1962, being named to commemorate John Glenn's first orbit. Flowers are clear pink with a soft, informal semi-double appearance and prominent yellow stamens visible in the center. It is noted for shedding old flowers cleanly and has an attractive, floriferous display in late winter to spring.
