About this Camellia cultivar
El Dorado is a non-reticulata hybrid camellia originated by J. Howard Asper in Escondido, California, and registered in 1967. Derived from C. pitardii x Camellia japonica 'Tiffany', it produces large, light pink blooms in a full peony form with creped and notched petals and stamens broken into fascicles by erect center petals. It is noted for mid-season flowering and an average growth rate with a spreading habit.
