Beni-Wabisuke

Beni-Wabisuke is a traditional Japanese wabisuke camellia cultivar, valued for its refined, understated flowers rather than large show blooms. As a wabisuke type, it is typically associated with tea-garden aesthetics and bears relatively small, elegant single flowers in a rich red to crimson tone with prominent yellow stamens. The bloom has a simple, modest appearance characteristic of wabisuke camellias, and the plant is generally an upright, somewhat compact evergreen shrub with small, glossy dark green leaves. It is commonly treated as a Camellia japonica or japonica-derived wabisuke selection and is usually considered an early-season bloomer.
